Marjorie (Marge) Viola Batcheler, born October, 21, 1920, to John Bendix and Anna Christena (Sarvold) Lundt, on a farm south of Webb, IA. Marge graduated from Gillette Grove Public School.
Marge married Loyd Joseph Batcheler September 4, 1941 at Grace Methodist church parsonage. Marge helped Loyd at the farm, raising chickens, cooking for threshers and other workers over the years. Marge and Loyd were active members in square dancing in Iowa and Texas.
Marge was active for many years with the Freeman Township Farm Bureau Womens group. She was the last charter member of the United Methodists Women at Dickens Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Marge and Loyd were Youth Counselors for many years in the 1950's and 60's. They were living at the Highlands when the home farm became a century farm in 2006. They were married 72 years before Loyd died in 2012. Marge and Loyd enjoyed 20 plus years wintering in Alamo, Texas and the many friends they made there.
Marge entered St. Luke's Lutheran Home on May 24, 2012 and died May 24, 2016 under the wonderful care of Spencer Hospital Hospice and St. Luke's wonderful staff.
She is survived by her son, Dale E. Batcheler and wife, Patricia; grandson, Thomas; granddaughter, Catharine Harms and husband, Dan and great grandchildren: Brayten Batcheler, Jack and Abby Harms.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 31 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
