Marjorie 'Marge' May Fairchild, the daughter of Roy & Hazel (Howard) Newcomb, was born April 14, 1921 in Rural Dickens, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove area, where she received her early education in country schools. Her family moved to Spencer, Iowa when she was in 7th grade, where she continued her education, graduating from Spencer High School. She moved to Des Moines, IA and worked for Meredith Publishing until moving back to Gillett Grove and later Spencer, in 1945.
Marge married Irving 'Jack' Fairchild on June 28, 1947 in Des Moines, IA. Following their marriage, she raised her children and worked as an Asst. Teacher for Tom Thumb Nursery School for 12 � years. Marge also worked at Telephone Sales and later worked at Spencer Ready Mix for 10 years, until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer.
Marge passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Fairchild in 2000; two sisters: Leona Wallace & Arlene Newcomb and three brothers: Harlan, Melvin and Robert Newcomb.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and their husband's: Linda and Frank Zech of Spencer and Patsy and Dr. Thomas Workman of Norfolk, NE; two grandsons and their wives: Pat & Jen Zech & Chas & Esther Zech; three great grandchildren: MacKenzie, Kaiden & Miley; two sisters: Faye Willert of Spencer and Betty Carlson of Marathon, IA; one brother, Roy, Jr. 'Bud' Newcomb of Spencer, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
