Mark Layne Haroldson was born April 19, 1954 in Iowa City, Iowa. He celebrated his second birthday on June 17, 1954 when he was adopted by Paul and Lois Haroldson. He spent his childhood years on the family farm near Rembrandt, graduating from Rembrandt High School in 1972.
He married Maureen Eickholt on December 15, 1973 in Rembrandt. To this union four children were born. Following their marriage, Mark worked at Spencer Foods, Ferguson Manufacturing, helping on the Jim Fell farm and for more than thirty years, Eatons. He had just recently retired.
Mark loved watching NASCAR and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. He was a lifelong Kansas City Chief and Royals fan. He enjoyed spending the day with friends out on the lake fishing. He was always looking for cars to buy and sell. He took great pride in his truck.
Mark passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 22, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Maureen of Royal; four children: LeAnn Haroldson (Juan) of Hartley, Michelle Haroldson (David) of Royal, Melissa Khenkitisak (Thomas) of Linn Grove, Michael Haroldson of Linn Grove; 14 grandchildren: Jessika (Tim), Samantha, Jasmine, Kenadie, Zachary, Emilee, Olivia, Eve, Caitlin, Markus, Caden, Samantha, David, and Michael; one great granddaughter, Ariel; one sister, Lora Haroldson of Carter Lake, Iowa; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Eickholt of Correctionville, Iowa; brother-in-laws, Ron Eickholt of Santa Maria, California, Paul (Lora) Eickholt of New Market, Alabama, Jim Eickholt of Battle Creek, Iowa, Leonard Eickholt of Cherokee, Iowa, Jon (Donita) Eickholt of Story City, Iowa, Harlan (Penny) Eickholt of Watertown, South Dakota, Colin Eickholt of Correctionville, Iowa; four sister-in-laws: Kathy Evans of Sioux City, Iowa, Mary (Joe) Wiltgen of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Laurie Comer of Sioux City, Iowa, Roberta Wattleworth of Chicago; best buddy, Todd Stearns of Emmetsburg, Iowa; numerous relatives and friends.
SERVICES
A Celebration of Life will be held from
4-7:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Hap Ketelsen Center in Everly, Iowa.
