Marlene Ann Moding, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Johansen) Johanson was born January 25, 1937 in St. Paul, NE. Her childhood years were spent in the Royal, IA area where she attended school, graduating from Royal High School in 1955.
Marlene married Clair Moding on July 18, 1959 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, IA. She worked at the Creamery in Sutherland, IA, ahead of moving to Spencer, IA for several years. They then moved to Colorado, before settling in Everly, IA, while working for Feldmans, Hallmark, and J.C. Penny.
Marlene enjoyed reading, taking trips with their camper, and baking. She was a member of the Everly Library Board, and Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
Marlene passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Daryl Johanson; 2 sisters, Darlene Englert and Jeanine Thomas; one brother-in-law, Don Moding; and 2 sister-in-laws, Joanne Johanson and Clarice Moding.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clair of Everly, IA; 2 children, Jeff (Judy Pitts) Moding of Cape Coral, FL and Barbara (John) Zatloukal of Omaha, NE; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany, Kayla, Jared, and Sonya; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, LaVern Johanson of Peterson, IA and James Johanson of Eden, GA; one Sister Marjorie (Keith) Mortensen of Royal, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
