Marlene Joyce Taylor, the daughter of LuVerne and Florence (Cooklin) Erickson, was born on September 19, 1934, in Webb, Iowa. She received her early education and graduated from Gillett Grove High School in 1953.
On January 15, 1971, Marlene married Ralph Taylor in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, Marlene worked in retail sales at Poole's clothing store and then Younkers until they both closed. In 1991, the couple purchased and operated the Spencer Cab Company for nine years. She worked at the Fashionette until she retired in 2004. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She liked to collect dolls, figurines and stuffed animals. She loved her dog Coco, liked to play bingo at the Clay County Fair and scratch-off lottery tickets. But most of all Marlene really enjoyed people and liked to be on the go all the time.
Marlene passed away at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, MN, on March 31, 2007, at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Randy, and infant brother Ronald.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ralph of Spencer, IA; one son, Rodney Mayou and his wife, Susie of Laurens, IA; one grandson, CJ Mayou of Laurens, IA; one sister, Joanne Mickelson and her husband, Vernon of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
