Martha Ione Rhodes

Martha Ione Harrington Rhodes was born March 3,1928 to Euless and Celia Anderson Harrington in Truesdale, Iowa.    After the passing of her mother at the age of 9, the siblings were separated, Martha and her sister went to live with Charles and Margaret Shewell of Storm Lake.

     Martha married Arthur Dale Rhodes on November 3 ,1947 in Jackson, MN.  To this union was born Tom, Pam and Jim. They made their home in Spencer until 1974, when they moved to an acreage near Rossie, IA.  In 1993, they moved back to Spencer.  Martha loved sewing, quilting, gardening and canning. She especially loved having her grandkids spending time at the "farm".

      She passed away at the Longhouse Residence on December 9, 2019 at the age of 91 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (2012) of 65 years; four brothers, Clyde, James, Ray and Roy Harrington and one sister, Blanche White. 

      Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tom (Deb) Rhodes of Grand Island, NE, Pam (Dwayne) Freeman of Spencer and Jim (Glenda) Rhodes of Cape Coral, FL; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Charles Harrington of Sioux Rapids, IA and Roger (Reatha) Harrington of Ida Grove, IA; many nieces and nephews.
