Martha Marie Walton

October 8, 1920 — April 24, 2008

Martha Marie Walton, the daughter of Chris O. and Christina Larson Anderson, was born October 8, 1920 on a farm west of Royal, Iowa. She attended Trimello School near Royal and later graduated as valedictorian from Royal High School in 1938. Martha married Marlowe Walton on July 2, 1944 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where she was an operator and supervisor at Northwestern Bell Telephone for 22 years, until her retirement one August 15, 1977. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Martha was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Martha passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1961; a son, Dennis Walton; three brothers and a sister. Left to cherish her memory are several nieces and nephews.
