Martin Charles Wolthuis

December 9, 1919 — January 24, 2008

Martin Wolthuis, the son of Claus and Dena (DeNeui) Wolthuis was born December 9, 1919, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he attended country school. Following his schooling, he worked on the family farm. Martin married Cleo Kohn on April 12, 1941 in Jackson, Minnesota. During their married years, they farmed near Everly, Estherville, Spencer and Fostoria areas. Following retirement, they moved to Fostoria, Iowa. Most recently they made their home at Longhouse Residence in Spencer. Martin loved to roller skate in his younger years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing Bingo. Martin passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at the Longhouse Residence at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Jimmie and Robert Wolthuis; one daughter, Susan Wolthuis; three brothers: Harm, George and Gerritt Wolthuis; one sister, Matilda Eckert; one daughter-in-law, Karen Wolthuis; and one granddaughter, Bobbi Wolthuis. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cleo, of Spencer, IA; one son, Richard Wolthuis of Milford, IA; three sisters: Alta Anderson, Clara Feaster, and Darlene Herrin, all of Spencer, IA; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday night at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
