Marv Laverne Amick, the son of D.J. 'Al' and Donna (Hamrick) Albers, was born July 11, 1950, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Jamestown, ND, where he received his education, graduating from Jamestown High School. Marv later continued his education at a Christian College in Mitchell, SD, for six months. He did ministry work in the southern part of the United States during the riots and freedom march during the 1960's. He moved to Chicago, IL, where he attended a photography school and later moved to St. James, MN, where he worked with his father in the photography business for several years. Marv moved back to Spencer where he worked and eventually owned Marv's Restaurant for many years.
Marv passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Monday, July 29, 2013, at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna.
Left to cherish his memory are his special companion, Joyce Feeley of Spencer, IA; his father, D.J. 'Al' Albers of Spencer, IA; one brother, Mike (Sandy) Albers of Omaha, NE; one sister, Diane (Dick) Allen of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many, many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
