Marvena Carol Bauerly the daughter of Marvin and Mable (Johnson) Stofferan, was born March 24, 1948, in Slayton, Minnesota. She attended Ocheyedan Community Schools in Ocheyedan, Iowa. She married Lonnie Bauerly on June 28, 1968, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Marvena lived in several places, including Sergeant Bluff, IA, Lakin, KS, and Ocheyedan, IA, before settling in Spencer, IA. She was a Tea Party Patriot member and a respite foster parent in Colorado. While living in Kansas her home was always open to children in need, many called her "mom". She worked as a cook for 20 years before retiring in 2003 from Country Kitchen in Spencer.
Marvena passed away at her home on September 21, at the age of 62. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son Curtis.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lonnie; her children, Kendra (Tom) Paige of Marion, IA, Kenneth (Laurie) Bauerly of Spencer, IA, and Todd Bauerly of Sergeant Bluff, IA; 10 grandchildren, Michael, A.J., Anna, Rachel, Jordan, Connie, Dalton, Dakota, Talyn, and Sophia; 2 great-grand children, Lucas and Zoey; 7 brothers, Kermit Stofferan of Oyens, IA, Norman, Vernon, Hubert, Bill Stofferan, all of Sibley, IA, Richard Stofferan of Ocheyedan, IA and Marven Jr. Stofferan of Laurens, IA; a sister, Marilyn Kruger of Rock Rapids, IA; other relatives and many friends.
