Marvin Delbert Crew

Marvin Delbert Crew, the son of Jesse and Clara Starkey Crew, was born February 13, 1918 on a farm north of Ayrshire, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in rural Ayrshire, where he received his education from Silver Lake Consolidated School. Marvin married Velma M. Brinkley on May 22, 1940 at the Methodist Church in Ayrshire, Iowa. Marvin farmed for many years in the Ayrshire, Hatton, Missouri and Spencer areas. During Marv's years of farming in Missouri, he won several awards for soil conservation. After his career of farming, Marvin became a salesman for several feed companies including Kerber Milling of Emmetsburg. During that career, he received several awards for outstanding service and sales to his customers. After retirement, Marvin and Velma enjoyed traveling, collecting and refinishing antiques. Later they moved to Fremont, Nebraska to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. Marv was also a 4H leader in Clay County, was a member of the extension council and was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis. Marvin passed away in Fremont, Nebraska on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by one son, Gordon; his parents: Jesse and Clara; three brothers: Norval, Lyle and Eldon Crew and three sisters: Eunice McCord, Vera Hoover and Naomi Kraft. He is survived by his wife, Velma, of Fremont, NE; one daughter and her husband, Ramona and Randall Sanders of Fremont, Nebraska; one grandson, Daniel Crew and his wife Tracy, and two great grandchildren: Abby Crew and Josh Crew, all of Des Moines, IA; as well as other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M., Friday with the family present at that time.
INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery - Spencer, Iowa Memorials are designated to First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
