Marvin Guy Kephart was born June 20, 1937, in Langdon, Missouri, to Ernest and Ida May (Davis) Kephart. He was the 9th child of 12. He held a variety of jobs throughout his years, but the one he loved best was working for farmers.
Marvin served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, going overseas to Germany.
In 2012, he returned to Iowa, after a long period of time in California, and moved in with Dee Sutherland. He took great pride in raising gardens; then he and Dee would give away the excess vegetables.
Marvin met a very special family that stole his heart. He became “PA” to them and was happiest when he could pick up those that needed a ride somewhere, teaching them to use a riding lawnmower, filling bird feeders with them and planting gardens. He was so grateful to them for all the help and love they gave to Dee and himself.
Marvin passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at his home at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 sons and one daughter.
Left to cherish his memory are his partner in crime, Dee Sutherland; his children: Jim (Debra) Kephart, Angela Kephart, Eve (Mike) Luy, Jeff (Jodi) Kephart and Marvin Jessie (Christine) Kephart; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
