Marvin Lee Harris, the son of Emory and Violet (Craddock) Harris, was born August 18, 1928 in Mt. Prospect, IL. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served overseas in Germany with the U.S. Army from 1945, until his honorable discharge in 1950.
Marv married Ardythe Jaeger on July 21, 1951 in Jackson, MN. Following his marriage, he worked Welco Feeds and later purchased the Conoco Station which he owned and operated from 1957 until 1970. He began his career at H & N Chevrolet in 1970, where he worked as a sales manager of the used car lot for 24 years, until his retirement. Marv won many awards in top sales and for outstanding salesmanship. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Spencer, where he served as a deacon for many years. For the past 10 years, Marvin managed the Senior Center Bingo. He was also a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Fire Department for 10 years.
Marvin passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kenneth and Emory Harris; one sister, Sharon Miller; a son, Randy Harris; 3 half brother's: Robert, Bernard and Donnie Harris and 3 half sisters: Cleo Ore, Maxine Pilmer and Shirley Carpenter.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ardythe of Spencer; one daughter, Vickie Delaney and her husband, Patrick of Merrit Island, FL; one son, Dan and his wife, Paula Harris of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Harris and his wife, Vangie of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Spencer
