Marvin Lyle Erichsen

Marvin Lyle Erichsen, the son of Henry and Erma (Braasch) Erichsen, was born July 28, 1921 in Rembrandt, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on a farm near Rembrandt, where he received his education, graduating from Rembrandt High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military in 1943 and served with the U.S. Air Force where he was a pilot on the B-29 aircraft that flew oversees until his honorable discharge in 1946. Marvin married Lorraine Adeline Miller on July 2, 1944 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, they were stationed in Des Moines, IA and Denver, CO until the end of his military career when they moved to a farm north of Everly and began farming. In 1949, they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where they continued farming until 1961 when they moved to Hartley. They farmed near Hartley until their retirement in 1987 when they moved into town. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Marvin was also active with the Arthur W. Kirchoff Post #288 in Hartley. Marv passed away at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine in 2007; one brother, Harold and one sister, Maxine McCabe. Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Thomas & Karolyn Erichsen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Keith & Tina Erichsen of Toronto, Canada and Alan & Lori Erichsen of Hartley, IA; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; One great-great grandchild; two brothers: Floyd Erichsen (Allene) of Des Moines, IA and Darrel (Darlene) Erichsen of Marrysville, WA; other relatives and friends.
