Mary Belle Rinehart, the daughter of William and Belle (Dickinson) Schomaker, was born June 21, 1935 in Spencer, IA. She was raised on a farm south of Rossie, IA, where she received her education. Mary Belle was active in 4-H and raised and showed cattle with her brothers. Mary Belle was prominent in the Life Magazine article about the Clay County Fair. She graduated from Rossie/Greenville High School in 1954.
Mary Belle married Robert Rinehart on January 16, 1955. They raised four children: Ross, Scott, Chet and Libby in various locations including: Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota and Iowa. They always returned to Clay County, Iowa and called it home. She enjoyed bowling, knitting and gardening. Her children never ate a store bought vegetable until they left home.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the age of 80. Mary Belle was preceded in death by both parents; her brothers: Ronnie, Billie and David and a daughter-in-law, Shirley.
Mary Belle is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert of Spencer; three sons: Ross (Beverly) Rinehart of Everly, Scott (Christel) of Rossie and Chet (Ann) of Soda Springs, ID; one daughter, Libby (Bryan) Hight of Reardan, WA; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Schomaker of Greenville, IA; one sister, Jane Huss of Omaha, NE; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
