Mary Catherine Delaney Thompson
Mary was born on January 24, 1940, in Spencer, IA, the daughter of Sheridan P. and Mathilda L. Delaney.
She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and her freshman and sophomore years were spent at Emmetsburg Catholic High School. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1958. She received her education in nursing at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA.
Mary was head nurse and nursing administrator of Delaney Nursing Home from 1962 to 1972. In 1988 she returned to private care nursing in Minneapolis and retired in 1994 when disabled.
She was married to Del Ennis and they had two children: Robin and Darren.
In 1974 she married Lawrence (Si) Thompson and they made their home in Langdon, IA.
Mary's greatest joy was time with family and friends. She was a master conversationalist with interests in anything that mattered to those she loved. Music brought her great joy, especially songs sung by friend and legend Marilyn Maye. She appreciated art, antiques, jewelry, fine dining and travel - even if it was by watching it on TV or living vicariously through others.
Special thank you for the attention and care given by Spencer Hospital over many years, especially Dr. Nathaniel Meyer, the emergency team and all the nurses and staff who treated Mary with love and respect.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Ennis of Sandpoint, ID; her son, Darren Ennis and Cathy Fideler of Minneapolis, MN; her grandchildren: Meleah Ennis of Seattle, WA; Nicholas Dooyema of Sioux Falls, SD; and Learyc and Janson Peterson of Spokane, WA. Also brothers Jim Delaney of Milford, IA and John Delaney of Sioux Falls, SD.
Other survivors include her former husbands Del Ennis of Sisters, OR and Si Thompson of Langdon, IA; son-in-law Scott Peterson of Spokane, WA; a very dear friend, Steve Wolter of Spencer, IA and other family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents and three newborn sons.
