Mary Ellen Christianson

Mary Ellen Christianson, the daughter of Ilet and Mary Clark Gulbranson, was born September 29, 1922 in Laurens, Iowa. She received her early education and graduated from Laurens High School in 1940. Mary married Kenneth Christianson on May 30, 1944 in Aiken, SC where Kenneth was stationed in the service. They moved to Rembrandt where they made their home for most of their lives except living in Cherokee for 6 years and Mt. Vernon for 3 years. Mary worked at Aalfs Manufacturing for 15 years, she retired at the age of 66. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family. Mary passed away on March 8, 2017 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Sioux Rapids, IA at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Dorothy. She is survived by her two sons: Hal Christianson of Rembrandt, IA and Clark Christianson of Spencer, IA; 2 grandchildren: Abby (Josh) Weber and their two children: Autumn and Easton and Brian (Amber) Christianson and their child, Melia Ann; 5 first cousins: Connie, Jim, Mary Lee, Bill and Lanore and her dear friends, Joleen and Erma Allen.
