Mary Evelyn Uhe

Mary Evelyn Harrington, the daughter of Leo and Ruth (Sweeney) Harrington, was born September 4, 1920 on a farm north of Sanborn, Iowa. She attended elementary school and received her high school diploma from Sanborn. After high school, she worked for various families in the community. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Uhe on July 25, 1940. Mary became a nurse's aide and worked at Spencer Municipal Hospital and then Hartley Memorial Hospital, where she later worked in Central Supply. She retired due to an eye condition in the 1970's. Mary enjoyed crocheting afghan's and made numerous for each of her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her six children. Mary passed away February 9, 2015 in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 94. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Lloyd, brothers Bob and Don Harrington, son-in-law William Leavitt, and Grandson Anthony Dotson. Left to cherish her memory are her children Jan Leavitt of Princeton, NJ, Judy (Tom) Albin of Sioux City, IA, Ron (Karene) Uhe of Readstown, WI, Joan (Jim) Unrau of Spencer, IA; Fred Uhe of Surprise, AZ and Steve (Mary) Uhe of Monroe, IA. In addition, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, two sisters Lorrene Moermond of Spencer, IA and Marge Yakel of Raleigh, NC, one brother Jim (Karen) Harrington of Eldersburg, MD, and sister-in-law Verne Harrington of Tampa, FL, and many relatives and friends.
