Mary Jo Ellenwood

Mary Jo Ellenwood, the daughter of Elwyn and Rebecca (Sietsma) Stinogel, was born on January 15, 1954, in Spencer, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Milford, where she received her early education and graduated from Milford High School in 1972. After graduation, she worked at the Dickinson County Courthouse in the auditor's office. Mary Jo married David Ellenwood on October 26, 1974, at the Union Memorial Church in Milford. Following their marriage, they lived in Milford until 1981, when they moved to Spencer. Mary Jo started working at the Ben Franklin store, which then became the Beehive, for nearly 20 years. In 2004, she started working at Curves and also Hope Haven. Mary Jo has been a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church since 1978, where she taught Sunday school, and also participated in the choir and the hand bell choir. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, stamping, making crafts, reading and praying. She loved the Lord, her children and family very much, praying for them everyday. She also loved her dog, Sammy, which she called "Momma's Boy". Mary Jo went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2009, at the Spencer Hospital, she was 55. She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Jim Ellenwood. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David of Spencer; her son, Michael of Rossie, IA; her two daughters: Rebekah of Indianola, IA and Ashley of Spencer, IA; her two sisters: JoAnn Pederson of North Platte, NE and Pamela Stinogel of Milford, IA; her brother, Dr. Jack Stinogel and his wife, Kim of St. Cloud, MN; her mother-in-law, Delores Sebastian and her husband, Merrill; nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. My Wife, Our Mother There's a brand new star in the midnight sky. God lifted the curtain and she slipped by. Her blessings were welcome, Her waiting was long. She is at peace with our Lord, Where she belongs. We look at the rainbow Through our tears, And think of His blessings Through these many years. Peace and love, You've earned your rest. God be with you He knows best.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Faith Pentecostal Church in Spencer. Following the services at the church, there will be a lunch served at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 2:00 P.M., Monday, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home.

INTERMENT
Following the services, Mary Jo will be cremated and her burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Langdon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name.
