Mary Killmar

      Mary Maxine Killmar, the daughter of Edward and Grace (Lilly) Rubis, was born on November 8, 1919, in Spencer, Iowa. She was raised and received her early education in Spencer graduating from high school in 1936. Following her graduation, she worked in Cherokee for a short time, before returning to Spencer.

     On February 6, 1945, Mary married Jerome Killmar in Spencer. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Spencer. She worked for the Government for many years and then worked for Safeway part time for over 18 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Legion Auxiliary. She loved to dance and belonged to Dance Clubs over the years. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, nature and animals.

     Mary passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Jerome and her son, Robert.

     Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jean Killmar of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
