Mary Krage Grover

      Mary Krage Grover, the daughter of James and Harriett (Krage) Conway, was born on October 8, 1944 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was raised and attended school there graduating from high school. She then attended Emmetsburg Junior College.

     On February 27, 1965, Mary married Merle Grover at the Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, they lived in the Langdon area. Mary was a homemaker for many years while they started their family, she also worked at Center Café. In 1986, she went back to college, attending Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Following her graduation, she worked at Dollar General in Spirit Lake and Spencer, Slumberland and most recently the Buckle. Mary was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church here in Spencer.

     Mary loved to bake, especially cookies, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, crocheting, genealogy, playing cards and games. Mary enjoyed spending  time visiting with her coffee friends and keeping in touch with her high school friends.

Most of all Mary loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

    Mary passed away on Tuesday, June   16, 2020, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle in 2004: her daughter, Melissa Lowman; her brother, Jack Conway; her sister, Therese Daniel and son-in-law, Shawn Smith.

     Left to cherish her memory are her six daughters: Mary Ann Smith of Fostoria, IA, Angela (Larry) Anderson of Worthington, MN, Audrey Whitacre of Estherville, IA, Krista (Ben) Petersen of Worthington, MN, Georgia Grover of Spencer, IA, Sharleen “Charlie” (Jeremy) Walters of Hartley, IA; her son, Lewis Grover (Kellie Richardson) of Milford, IA; her son-in-law, Harold “Howie” Lowman of Emmetsburg, IA; 34 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her five sisters: Ellen and Roger Picray of Emmetsburg, IA, Margaret and Phil Redenbaugh of Storm Lake, IA, Elizabeth Gilbert of Dexter, MO, Patty and Tom Boyd of Papillion, NE and Kathy and Fred Alva of Omaha, NE ; her three brothers: James Conway of Emmetsburg, IA, Jude and Jane Conway of Des Moines, IA, Tom and   Jean Conway of Park Rapids , MN; her brother-in-law, James Daniel of Des Moines, IA;   many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Graveside Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 19 , 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery in Rural Langdon.
