Mary Sullivan

Mary Sullivan, the daughter of Robert and Anna Treanor Byers, was born November 27, 1922 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Hartley. Mary received her early education in a country school near May City and graduated from the Spencer High School. On December 27, 1945, Mary married Duane "Sully" Sullivan in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, she worked at the Tangney Hotel gift shop and later as a bookkeeper for Witt Sales. Mary then began a time that gave her great joy, sharing activities and caring for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Mrs. Sullivan passed away at Longhouse Residence on December 27, 2010 at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sully; son, Michael; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Mary is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Roy Applegate and Jane and Tony Sholly all of Spencer; one son, Jon of Spencer; 6 grandchildren: Julie Wiese, Jennifer Lennon, Jeff Applegate, Jill Applegate, Jim Sholly and Samantha Sullivan; 5 great-grandchildren: Megan, Renae and Travis Wiese and Shelby and Maddie Lennon; one sister, Lillian Dempsey of California; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Will begin at 5:00pm with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00pm and a Catholic Vigil Service at 5:00pm at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
