Matthew Carroll

Matthew Clark Carroll, son of Josiah (Joe) and Jeanne Carroll, was born August 3, 1961, in Spencer. He received his education in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School in 1980. Matthew pursued further education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Thereafter, Matthew lived for many years in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Minnesota. He enjoyed percussion in high school and played in the Spencer Municipal Band. His love of music continued throughout his life. He had also an affinity for animals and held a special calming touch with them. He and his cat, Callie, shared many happy and challenging times together. Family was particularly important to Matt. He enjoyed family celebrations and enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews grow. He will be dearly missed. He passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 21, 2016 at his home in Wayzata, Minnesota. Survivors include siblings, Kelly Carroll (Mary Anne) of East Moline, IL, Ned Carroll (Maureen) of Plymouth, MN, Sara Carroll Anderson (Keith) of Aurora, IL, and Laura Carroll Contreras (Freddie) of Plymouth, MN, and eight nieces and nephews. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
