Maurice Hennig

November 20, 1922 — July 8, 2008

Maurice Claude Hennig, the son of Claude and Dorothy Prusia Hennig, was born November 20, 1922 near Rosalie, Nebraska. He received his education in Rosalie, graduating from Rosalie High School in 1940. After one year of college in Lincoln, NE, he enlisted in the Navy in 1942 serving overseas in New Guinea and the Phillippines, being discharged in 1946. On January 15, 1947, he married Angeline Mary Nilges in Pender, Nebraska. They lived in that area until 1965, when they moved to Spencer, Iowa where he was employed by C-D Farm Service Co. until retiring in 1987. His wife Angeline died October 10, 1988. He married Mabel Schomaker July 5, 1993. Mabel died on September 1, 2003. While living in Spencer, he was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Golden K Kiwanis. Maurice passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry and Gerald; sister, Karen Mee; brother-in-laws, Lawrence Nilges, Louis Zvacek, Eugene Von Seggern, Clifford Claussen and Jerry Mee and his sister-in-laws, Marcella Claussen and Bernadine Zvacek. Survivors are two daughters: Carol & Al Nickles of Sioux Falls, SD, Cindy & Ron Haugstad of Brandon, SD and a son, Mark & Deb Hennig of Sioux Falls, SD; Grandsons: Chris & Jennie Nickles, Sioux Falls, SD and Kyle Nickles, Brookings, SD; Step-granddaughters: Alicia and Josh Sturges, Sioux Falls, SD and Alison Walker, Sioux Falls, SD; 5 step-great grandchildren: 1 great-grandchild, Carson Nickles; sister-in-laws: Marianne Von Seggern, Wisner, NE, Clarice Hennig, Sioux City, IA, Marcella Hennig, Rosalie, NE; Brother-in-laws, Art & LaVonne Nilges, Pender, NE, LeRoy & Carmen Nilges, Sioux City, IA; many nieces and nephews and friends.
SERVICES
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 11, 2008, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Spencer, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday night at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

3:30 P.M. Graveside at Rose Hill Cemetery Pender, NE In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer or the American Cancer Society.
