Hartley

Maurine Mary Spangler, the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Benz) Hauber, was born February 8, 1918 in LeMars, IA.  Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School.

Maurine married Willard Spangler on September 9, 1937 in Spencer, IA.  After their marriage, they made their home in Everly, where she worked for a short time at a grocery store and later worked at Everly State Bank as a teller and bookkeeper for 30 years until her retirement.  She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly as a member of the choir for 14 years and also on the church council.  In her spare time she enjoyed handiwork, crocheting, knitting, reading, raising flowers and gardening.

She passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the age of 99 years 11 months and 21 days, just 10 days short of her much anticipated 100th birthday.  Maurine was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in 2001.
