Max Erwin Sheridan, the son of Ronald and Erma (Erwin) Sheridan, was born on September 12, 1920, in Oakville, IA. He received his early education in Oakville where he graduated from High School. Following graduation, he played minor league baseball in Colorado Springs, CO. Max returned to Iowa where he worked as a crop duster in the family business.
On October 7, 1942, Max entered into the military in the United States Army. While in the military he was a welder working on aircraft. He also played on the baseball team. He was honorably discharged on February 6, 1946, in Ft. Leavenworth, KS.
On September 6, 1947, Max married Jean Phyllis Grieve in Muscatine, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Burlington where he worked as an ironworker. After retiring in 1970, the couple moved to Phyllis's family farm near Webb. Max enjoyed fishing and was an avid duck and goose hunter. He enjoyed a good cigar, telling hunting stories and watching baseball, but most of all he loved hunting with his son and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Max passed away on July 3, 2007, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Susan Brewer in 1995.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Phyllis of Webb, IA; son, John Sheridan and wife, Carolyn of Greenville, IA; their children: grandson, Erik Sheridan and wife, Tara of Minnetonka, MN and granddaughter Euvonne Sheridan of Greenville, IA; and Rose Brewer, granddaughter, of Palmdale, CA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Liberty Cemetery in Greenville,Iowa.
