Maxine Ida Rossiter, the daughter of LaVerne and Anne (Knipper) Wright, was born on February 3, 1922, in Spencer, Iowa. Maxine graduated from Spencer High School in 1940. After high school she worked at Scott’s Dime Store as a store manager. Maxine met Roger in 1941. They continued a long distance relationship through World War II and married on July 7, 1945, in Spencer. In 1947, the couple moved to a farm near Worthington where they raised four daughters and lived for more than 70 years. Maxine owned and ran a dry cleaning business for several years in Worthington, in addition to being a farm wife.
Maxine enjoyed a full life, which included reading, crafting, traveling and family activities. Her favorite memories included spending several summers with her family camping at Cut Foot Sioux on Lake Winnibigoshish in Northern Minnesota. She was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest joy was her family.
She passed away on Tuesday, March 13, at her home surrounded by her family, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Delores; her daughter, Brenda Hegwer and infant grandchild.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roger; her daughters: Betty Moffitt, Beverly Schmidt and Barbara Schomaker; her grandchildren: Lisa Scott, Joe Hegwer (Kristi), Karrie DeRadd (Corey), Nathan Schmidt(Tiffany) and Stacy Hoss (Jesse); her great grandchildren: Kyle Trierweiler (Ashley), Tanner & Alex Hegwer, Martha, Brianna and James DeRadd, Theodore & Phoebe Schmidt and Madelyn Hoss; great-great grandchildren: Zackery, Elijah and Bennett Trierweiler; other relatives and friends.
