Maxine Mae Salmon

Maxine Mae Salmon, the daughter of Carlisle and Grace Mitchell Smith, was born June 9, 1932 in Clear Lake, SD.  As a young child, her family moved to Sherburn, MN.  She received her early education and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1950.  Maxine continued her education at Mankato Commercial School where she studied Accounting.  Following her schooling, Maxine worked in Sioux Falls and Fairmont before moving to Spencer in 1952 and started working at Farmers Bank and later Spencer National Bank.

     Maxine was an active member of First Baptist Church in Spencer where she taught Sunday School and served as volunteer for Missionary Helpers.  She also volunteered for People For Pets and RSVP.  In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed yardwork and gardening, traveling with her family and grandchildren, camping trips to Northern Minnesota which included birdwatching, fishing and spearing.

     Maxine passed away on April 5, 2018 at her daughter’s home in LeMars, Iowa at the age of 85.  She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Matthew Allen Salmon; grandson, Justin Salmon and sister, Virginia Lee Peters.

     She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Ann Kruse (Bruce) of LeMars, IA; her son, Melvin Carlisle Salmon of Spencer, IA; grandchildren: Jason C. Salmon and Elisha R. McClarty; great grandchildren: Colin William Salmon and Cameron Salmon; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
