Maynard Lee Ott, the son of Emmert and Anna Nath Ott, was born November 7, 1938 in Everly, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Everly, where he attended country school and later graduated from Everly High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959. After his discharge he returned to Iowa and lived in several communities in northwest Iowa including Spencer, where he farmed for several years.
On August 6, 1981, he married Shirley Adams in Braymer, Missouri. He continued to farm for a number of years and had also operated the Country Place in Braymer for six years. Maynard was of the Lutheran Faith. He had been a member of the Shriner's Club, the Grand Lodge, Friendship Lodge #89, the Chillicothe Council #28 - Cryptic Mason and the Lone Star Chapter #30, all of Chillicothe, and the Moila Shrine Temple of St. Joseph. Maynard loved his family and friends and he loved to ice fish, hunt and spending time outdoors.
He passed away at a hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri on January 6, 2007 at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Margaret Brown.
Maynard is survived by his wife, Shirley of Weatherby, MO; his mother, Anna Ott of Spencer, IA; his daughter, Denise Everman of Gallatin, MO; four sons: Frank Sgambato of Hamilton, MO, Glen Ott and Shane and his wife, Trish Ott, all of Cameron, MO and Randy Ott and his special friend, Theresa of Winston, MO; two step-sons: Scott and Mike Adams of Cameron; a sister, Mary and her husband, Al Sjoberg of Mora, MN; four brothers: Merle and his wife, Mary Ott of Wilsonville, Oregon, Marvin and his wife, Mary Ott of Grand Rapids, MN and Melvin and his wife, Linda Ott and Mitch and his wife, Donna Ott of Everly, IA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 5 aunts; 1 uncle and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
Masonic Services will be conducted by Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. following the memorial services.
