Melissa Kay Zmudka

Melissa “Missy” Kay Zmudka, the daughter of Ray Hardesty and Brenda (Bauer) Hastings, was born on September 13 1974 in Omaha, NE. Missy grew up in Luverne, MN, where she attended school. She received her G.E.D later in life. Missy worked in various places in leadership roles and mainly lived in Southwest Minnesota and Northwest Iowa.

Missy and Shaun met at an early age in 1987 and started their life together. In 1993 they welcomed their daughter Desirae Beaubien. After a few years Missy made a move to Spencer, IA to be closer to her mom and in 2002 she welcomed her son Dalton Roberts. In 2005 Missy met the love of her life Peter Zmudka, together they welcomed their daughter Sierra Zmudka in 2006. They were married in 2007 in Spencer. IA, 

Missy had a crazy obsession with unicorns and spent countless hours thrifting in search of more to add to her collection. She spent a lot of time listening and going to heavy metal concerts. Anyone that knew Missy knew she was high on life. Her grandkids were her FAVORITE part of life! She loved taking them to the park and swimming at Scharnberg, and anything else she thought they would enjoy! Most of all, Missy cherished spending time with her family.

Missy passed away unexpectedly on March 23rd, 2025. She is survived by her children - daughters: Desirae Beaubien and Sierra Zmudka, and son: Dalton Roberts all of Spencer, IA, mother: Brenda Hastings (Chip Hughes) of Spencer, IA, 2 brothers: Terry (Idella) Hastings and Todd Hastings both of Sioux Falls, SD, Grandkids: Mason, Aubrey, Madisyn and Jayden: along with many other family members and friends. Missy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Peter Zmudka, grandmother, Joyce Mantel, and Shaun Beaubien.
