Merlyn John Fell

     Merlyn John Fell, the son of John and Viola (Schoelerman) Fell was born September 21, 1933 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Everly, IA area, where he attended school and graduated from Everly High School in 1951.

     Merlyn enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1955. He married Bonnie Ihnen in 1954.  He then began farming in the Everly area. Merlyn married Donna Carlson in 2004. He was a member of the Evening Shade Lodge#312 A.F. & A.M., American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1 and Hope Lutheran Church. Merlyn enjoyed driving the Shriners ATV’s in parades, driving Everly School bus and working with livestock.

     Merlyn passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bonnie; and a son, Mark Fell.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna of Sanborn, IA; 5 children: Patricia (Terry) Thomsen of Hartley, IA, Mike Fell of Lake Mills, IA, Sandy (Dale) Langner of Dickens, IA, Sharon (Jim) Mitchell of Polk City, IA and Teresa (Travis) Kiewiet of Dike, IA; 6 step-children: Curtis (Aimee) Carlson of Emmetsburg, IA, Stanley (Nan) Carlson of Iowa City, IA, Tim (Beth) Carlson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mike (Lori) Carlson of Waverly, IA, Joyce Hindman of Lincoln City, OR and Janet Wait of Peoria, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;  29 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. David (Barbara) Fell of Jackson, MN; 2 sisters-in-law: Marlis Tesch of Everly, IA and Lois Ihnen of Spirit Lake, IA; close family friend, Violet Ihnen, of Spirit Lake, IA; other relatives and many friends.
