Mervin Schreyer Rebhuhn, the son of Martin and Dora Schreyer Rebhuhn, was born May 10, 1931 in Pocahontas, Iowa. He graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1949, and after graduation, he served in the Army for two years during the Korean War.
On July 11, 1954 he married the love of his life, LaVonne Gutz. They eventually settled in the Albert City area where he farmed for more than 50 years. They lived on the farm until 2007 when they moved to Spencer, Iowa. In July of 2014 they celebrated 60 years together.
Mervin was active in his church and community and enjoyed many friendships. It was his family he treasured most, embracing the role of husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. During their married years, they attended many special events for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also enjoyed many family vacations, including trips to Mexico, the Bahamas and Hawaii. Mervin was caring, loving and well liked by everyone who came in contact with him.
