Michael Alan Lindahl, the son of Richard (Dick) Lindahl and Bonnie Markley, was born on April 16, 1948, in Fremont, Nebraska. He grew up and lived in Fremont, Nebraska with his sister, Jini Leigh (Lindahl) Voss and grandfather Clinton Jonathan and grandmother, Una Lindahl. He graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1966. After high school, he studied at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before graduating from Midland Lutheran College in 1970. During his time at Midland he traveled to Europe on a USO tour singing with The Clef Dwellers in 1967. He met and married Cynthia Rose McDaniel on May 26, 1979, in Fremont, Nebraska while working at First National Bank of Fremont. Shortly thereafter, his job at the Bank Marketing Association took them to Chicago, Illinois where they lived for two years and had a son, Jonathan Michael in June 1981. That same year he received his Graduate Degree from The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Later that year, he took a job at the First National Bank of Zanesville, Ohio where they had a daughter, Tara Anne in September 1982, and lived for 10 years. While in Ohio he often taught Bank Marketing at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio before the banking business briefly took him to Charleston, West Virginia and eventually to Westerville, Ohio in 1993. In 2010, he and Cynthia retired to the McDaniel Family Century Farm in Sutherland, Iowa. In early 2015, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away on June 7, 2015, in Spencer, Iowa.
Michael enjoyed his work in the banking and finance industries almost as much as he enjoyed his family. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time at Buckeye Lake, Ohio and Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was involved with many service organizations including the United States Army Reserve, Kairos Prison Ministries, Blendon Masonic Lodge No. 339, Men's Bible Study, Peterson, Iowa. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the Peterson Elevator, and he was an Elder at the Maple Grove Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and the Patoot every summer.
Left to cherish Michael's memory is his wife of 36 years, Cynthia Rose Lindahl of rural Sutherland, Iowa, his sister, Jini Leigh (Lindahl) Voss and her husband Robert L. Voss of Spirit Lake, Iowa and their family of Omaha, Nebraska. His children Jonathan Michael Lindahl and his wife, Morgan of Delaware, Ohio and Tara Anne (Lindahl) Helm and her husband, Steven of Phoenix, Arizona. His grandchildren Parker Michael Lindahl and Payton Erin Lindahl and Vivian Rose Helm. He is also survived by his uncle Jim Lindahl and family, of Omaha, Nebraska and his sister-in-laws Patricia and Alan Meyer of Kirksville, Iowa, Pamela and Douglas Halverson of Peterson, Iowa and Kristine Raveling of Sutherland, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lindahl, his mother, Bonnie (Lindahl) Markley, her husband Graham Markley, Jr., his grandfather Clinton Jonathan and grandmother, Una Lindahl.
