Michael Arthur Anderson

Michael Arthur Anderson was born December 24, 1955 in Spencer, IA to Arthur Anderson and Maureen (Gruwell) Anderson. Mike passed away July 26, 2023 at St. Luke Lutheran Home, Spencer, IA where he resided since 2013

Mike attended Spencer schools and achieved his GED in 1989. In his younger years, he spent time traveling back and forth to his father’s home in Sarasota, FL. where he worked as a welder. He also resided for a short time in New Orleans. Mike has resided in Spencer, IA since 1986. During this time, he worked for the Sunshine Center. Though having a stroke, that forced him to use crutches for much of his later life, this never stopped him from walking endless miles throughout Spencer.

Mike enjoyed many activities to include watching sporting events, NASCAR and drag races. He also loved going to car shows. In 2013, Mike moved to St. Luke Lutheran Home where enjoyed visiting with family and friends and taking trips to “the lakes” with his St. Luke family and others. Mike was especially fond of Classic Rock and Roll music.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Art; mother, Maureen; sister, Shirley (Tom) Amis, brother, Terry Dandy and nephew Mick Beck.

Mike is survived by a brother Dan Dandy; sister-in-law, Betty Dandy of Linn Grove, IA; four nephews, Rick Beck of Spencer, IA; Terry (Jackie) Beck of Spencer, IA; Tron (Courtney) Dandy of West Des Moines, IA; Jason (Kerri) Dandy of Spencer, IA; along with many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone that touched Mike’s life and especially his St. Luke family. Also a special thank you to St. Croix Hospice for providing care during Mike’s final days.
