Michael Gerald Hughes, known as Mike, was born August 2, 1973, in Estherville, Iowa, to Vincent and Agnes (Paulsen) Hughes. Mike was raised in Graettinger, Iowa, where he received his education graduating High School in 1992. After graduation Mike went to work for Stylecraft in Milford, Iowa. He was employed there until its doors were closed in 2011. He was then employed briefly at Walmart and Melanders before taking a position at Rosenboom in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Mike was a dedicated, hardworking employee who enjoyed the company of his coworkers and friends.
Mike was married to the love of his life, Autumn, on May 25, 2001 and was blessed with six children: Journey, Rock, Steel, Chain, Edge and Cove, who were the light of Mike’s life. Most free time in Mike’s life was spent with his family doing what they loved, bike rides, swimming, basketball, playing boards games, working on and talking about cars. He loved to tell jokes to his kids and they all loved to hear them. Mike had a smile that would make everyone around him happy. And although quiet and soft spoken, Mike brought so much joy and peace to everyone he met.
Mike was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, the church, and prayed for salvation on June 15, 2004 and was baptized July 11, 2004.
Son, Husband, Father, and Papa, Michael Hughes, age 48, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his home. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Hughes.
