Michael John Mackay Dole

Michael "Pineapple" Mackay John Dole, the son of Donald and Patricia (Mitchell) Dole, was born February 10, 1953 in Menomonie, WI. His childhood years were spent in Menomonie, where he received his early education. His family later moved to Spencer, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1971. He entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1972, until his honorable discharge in March of 1974. After his military service, he attended ILCC Association night school for two years. Mike married Sandy Moulds on September 8, 1981 at the courthouse in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where he worked at the packing plant in Hartley for 14 years. He later worked at the Spencer Golf and Country Club as a cook for 8 years and for the last several years, he worked at RR Donnelly and Maurer Manufacturing in Spencer. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. He also enjoyed coaching his children in baseball and softball and being active in with the cub scouts with his sons. He passed away at his home in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather one brother, Paul Dole; and one stepbrother, Jeffery (Clohe) Husby. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandy of Spencer; three sons: Jeffery (Ashley) Dole, Shawn (Amber) Dole, and Kyle Dole all of Spencer; one daughter, Rachel Dole of Spencer; two granddaughters: Cailyn and Kelsi; one grandson, Bailey; one brother, Robert (Dede) Dole of Nevada; one nephew, Jimmy Dole; one stepsister, Lori (Bob) Peters of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
