Michael "Mike" Allan Hill

Michael Allan Hill, age 72, of Sutherland, IA, died on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  He was born June 16, 1951, to Gordon and Verna Hill in Primghar, Iowa.  Mike spent his childhood years growing up on the family farm in Sutherland.  He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1969.

Following graduation, Mike attended Iowa State University for a year where he played rugby.   From there, Mike received his taxidermy license in Arizona.  He then returned back to Sutherland to assist on the family farm.  Mike went on to work for Schoon Construction for over thirty years.   In his free time, Mike was passionate about fishing, hunting, taxidermy and spending time with his grandkids and great-nieces and great-nephews.  He enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends, especially to Canada and Minnesota.   His grandchildren will miss his joking and fun-loving demeanor and more importantly, his yummy fish fries.  

Mike is survived by his son, Matt (Sheena) Hill of Warner, SD; step-son, Jamin (Beth) Tremmel of Rapid City, SD; step-mom, Jean Hill of Sioux City, IA; his three siblings, Steve (Josie) Hill of Gillette, WY; Debbie Steichen of Seattle, WA; Mary Ann (Bruce) Fiddelke of Sutherland, IA; and his beloved grandchildren: Jensen Tremmel, Olivia Tremmel, Brynn Hill, Kason Hill, Samuel Hill, Eden Hill, and Krue Hill; and other relatives and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Gordon “Bud” Hill; mother, Verna Hill; and brother, Russell Hill.
