Mildred Arlene Staines

October 14, 1922 — March 22, 2013

Mildred Staines, the daughter of Christopher and Helen (Mayer) Kruckenberg, was born October 14, 1922 at Ocheyedan, Iowa. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1940. Mildred married Paul Staines at her parent's home in Hartley on October 13, 1940. They lived on the farm east of Hartley until they moved to Arnolds Park in 1989. Millie worked at the school in the lunchroom for a few years and also made beautiful drapes for Twetten's Store in Spencer for quite a few years. She loved to travel and even went to Barbados with 3 friends to see her brother, Cory. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and has five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley and a current member of the United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. She passed away at the Hilltop Care Center on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the age of 90. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul in 2005. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Jay Staines and his wife, Nancy, of Okoboji and Larry Staines and his wife, Jeanine, of Arnolds Park, IA; five grandchildren: Chris Staines of Kansas City, MO, Erica Hough of Elmore, MN, Samie Staines of Okoboji, IA, Doug Staines of Waverly, IA and Michelle Wanninger of Ankeny, IA; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Cory Kruckenberg and his wife, Mary and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Hartley at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 24, 2013.
