Mildred Elizabeth Bruns

     Mildred Elizabeth Bruns, the daughter of William and Cora (Crouch) Douglass was born January 16, 1916 in Hampton, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Hampton area where she attended school, graduating from Hampton High School. She then attended Iowa State College.

     Mildred married Carl Bruns on December 25, 1936 in Hampton, IA. After marriage, they moved to Sheldon, IA, until moving to Spencer, IA in 1994. She worked as a stay at home mom, taking care of her children. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, PEO Sisterhood and women’s societies and church organizations. She enjoyed reading, spending time with friends and family, and especially Carl for many wonderful years.

     Mildred passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; one sister, Wilma Carlson; and one brother, Donald Douglass.

     Left to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Bill (Sandi) Bruns of Omaha, NE and Jim (Nadine) Bruns of Rohnert Park, CA; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
