Mildred Mary Nelson, the daughter of Beach and Edith Thompson Nelson, was born June 13, 1911 in Sutherland, Iowa. As a youth she was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. She graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of 1929. Her joy in life was her family and making personal sacrifices to bring happiness to those around her. Her greatest love was God, and family, music and nature. While on the farm, she spent many hours in her garden and caring for her flowers. On September of 1993, she moved to town where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a regular attendant. She was a good homemaker, a faithful friend, and a kindly neighbor.
Mildred passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers: George, Harold, Kenneth and Donald Nelson; one sister, Margaret Peggy Evans; two sister-in-laws, Frances and Fern Nelson and two brother-in-laws, Paul Evans and Burdell Triplett.
Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Irene Triplett of Spencer, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland, Iowa.
