Miles Bruce Rohan, the son of LaMont Edward and Donna Jean (Irvine) Rohan, was born September 1, 1948 in Sioux City, IA. His childhood years were spent in Newcastle, NE, where he received his education, graduating from Newcastle High School in 1966. He continued his education at Wayne State Teacher’s College, graduating in 1970.
Miles married Neila Arnold on June 3, 1972 in Denison, IA. After their marriage, Miles taught Industrial Arts at the high School in Everly. They built a new house while he was teaching, using it as a teaching tool for his students. He owned and operated Rohan Construction for 13 years before working for Eaton Corporation where he retired from in 2010. After retiring, he assisted his sons Kevin at his Game State store in Spencer, IA and Patrick with farming near Ruthven, IA. For several years, he worked with the Cub Scout program in Everly and helped guide a neighbor scout to earn his Eagle Scout Merit. He had a large operating model railroad in his home and hosted an open house during the Christmas season as well as operating sessions for his fellow model railroaders. Miles was a member of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) and a founding member of the Prairie Lakes Division of the NMRA. He was Superintendent of the KICD Train Depot at the Clay Co. Fair for several years.
Miles passed away at his home on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the age of 72 after a long bout with pancreatic cancer. Miles was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Michael Miles Rohan.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Neila of Everly, IA; two sons: Patrick (Diane) Rohan of Ruthven, IA and Kevin (Susan) Rohan of Spencer, IA; 2 grandchildren, Curt Rohan of Ruthven, IA and Lily Rohan of Spencer, IA; one sister, Marcia (Rick) Potter of Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
