Milton Leroy Conrad

August 25, 1917 — March 30, 2010

Milton LeRoy Conrad, the son of Walter and Anna (Speth) Conrad, was born August 25, 1917 in Tulare, SD. His childhood years were spent on a farm near Langdon, Iowa, where he received his education at Meadow Township #7 country school. Following his schooling, Milton helped farmers in the area. Milton entered the United States Army in 1942 serving in Europe until his honorable discharge in 1946. On February 18, 1947, Milton married Helen Stukey in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, Milton farmed in Langdon, Dickens, Milford and Graettinger until moving to Spencer in 1996. Milton was an active member of the Lost Island Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, carving wood farm equipment, painting landscapes and fishing. Milton passed away on March 30, 2010 at Northshire in Spencer at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen on April 8, 2006; 2 brothers: Clarence Conrad and Bob Holmes; 2 sisters: Delpha Trask and Delberta Miller. Milton is survived by two sons and their wives: James & Mary Conrad of Moline, IL and Dean & Colleen Conrad of Spencer, IA; one granddaughter and her husband, Michele & Dan Ellingson of Titonka, IA; one great granddaughter, Hannah; brother, Wayne Conrad of Waterloo, IA; two sisters: Helen Peters of Spencer, IA and Fern Wix of Allison, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Lost Island Lutheran Church in Ruthven.
