Myrle Mildred Roberts, the daughter of John and Bessie (Jelinek) Kotrba, was born January 22, 1922 in Verdigre, NE. Her childhood years were spent in the Verdigre area, where she received her early education. The family later moved to the Rossie area, where she continued her education, graduating from Rossie High School with the class of 1940.
Myrle married Arlan Roberts on May 12, 1940 in Peterson, Iowa. During their marriage, they lived in the Royal and Peterson area, where they farmed for many years. They worked side by side in the farming operation milking cows and selling the cream, raising and selling chickens. She also was busy sewing clothes, crocheting, knitting, quilting and working at the Royal school as a bus driver. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling in league, playing scrabble and cards with her grandchildren and especially buying shoes. Myrle was a longtime member of the United Methodist church in Royal.
Mrs. Roberts passed away at the Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing Home Facility in Sutherland, Iowa on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlan in 1997; a daughter, Alice Allacher; her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Roberts; a son-in-law, Dale Allacher; two granddaughters: Myrle Marie Jackson, the daughter of Alice and an infant daughter of John and Yvonne Roberts.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, John Roberts of Royal, Iowa; two daughters: Janet Graves of Wauconda, Illinois and Cynthia (Gary) Deck of Lancaster, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
