Myrna Mardella Holcomb, the daughter of Russell and Lura (Howe) Holcomb, was born October 22, 1939 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They lived with her grandfather for a short time before moving to Laurens, Iowa for a year. They lived near Virgin Lake close to Ruthven, Iowa for three years and later south of Dickens. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven and Spencer. Myrna enjoyed her church activities, Farm Bureau membership and traveling with her mother in their camper.
