Nancy Arrena Ebert, the daughter of James and Mattie (Stephenson) Brannan, was born February 22, 1921 in Benson, North Carolina. Her childhood years were spent in North Carolina, where she received her education. Following her schooling, she worked for Western Electric in Baltimore.
Nancy married Frederick Ebert on August 25, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. Following their marriage, they moved to the Aurelia, Iowa area and later to the Peterson area, where they farmed for many years. Throughout her marriage, Nancy worked at Alf's and later at Eaton Manufacturing from 1974 until their retirement in 1984. After their retirement, they moved to their present home in Sutherland. Nancy was an excellent cook and loved to bake and also enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.
Nancy passed away at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Iowa on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Joanne Jeglum of Aurora, IL; Jim Ebert and his wife, Marlene of Marcus, IA; and John Ebert of Warsaw, IL; five grandchildren; Seth Jeglum, Aaron Jeglum, Jessica Kuter, Heather Crank, Hillary Sealock; three great grandchildren: Andrew Kuter and Savannah and Skylar Sealock; one brother, W.S. Brannan of Raleigh, NC; a brother-in-law, Jesse Sandino of Baltimore, MD; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Iowa.
