Nancy Nadine Geisinger

     Nancy Nadine Geisinger, the daughter of Adolph “Rudy” and Lyla (Yates) Crawford, was born in Sheldon, Iowa on May 24, 1950.  She graduated from Sanborn High School in 1968 and UNI with a B.A. in elementary education in 1972.  Nancy was married and moved to Minneapolis, working in collection business.  Her two children, Stephanie Sue and Matthew John, were born there.

     Nancy moved to Spencer in 1980 and again worked for a collection agency, followed by working at Lincoln School.  In 1991, she began teaching as a fifth-grade teacher at Sacred Heart until her retirement in 2015.

     Nancy was united in marriage to Larry Geisinger on November 23, 1996, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, Iowa.

     She loved her family, her faith, reading, rock and roll, country music, golfing, the Green Bay Packers, cooking for her family, time spent with many friends and staff at Spencer Hospital Athletic Enhancement Department, teaching and her time at Sacred Heart School and lots of lunches and shopping.  Nancy had a true passion for teaching and love of her students.  She especially loved following her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.  She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her cats, Stella and Lonzo.  Nancy’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she was happy to be able to spend this last Christmas with her family.

     Nancy died January 1, 2024, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 73, surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Robert, Donald, Francis (Gene), Harold and Kathy; son, Donnie and grandson, Chris.

     She is survived by her husband, Larry; children: Stephanie Bronstad, Matthew (Kim) Schuver, Michelle (Corey) Johnson and Dawn Geisinger; grandchildren: Joshua, Logan, Kaleb (Leslie), Braden, Morgan (Will), Madeline, Gabe, Elle, Nick, Luke and John; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Doug) Handeland.  She will also be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.
