Nancy Joan Vermeer

     Nancy Joan (Dau) VerMeer, the daughter of Elvin and Mabel (Meyers) Dau was born September 7, 1946 in Primghar, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Sutherland, IA area, where she attended country school and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1964. After graduation she was employed at a dental office in Primghar, worked in the Sutherland High School Superintendent office, and worked and retired from Morton Buildings in Spencer, IA.

     Nancy married Gary Kruse on December 16,1967. From their marriage, they had three children, Sheila, Jason and Tricia. They later divorced. Nancy was remarried to John Gerald VerMeer on April 10, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, IA where they both retired. They enjoyed spending their summer weekends at their trailer on Big Spirit Lake.

     Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family and her 7 grandchildren. She loved sewing, cooking, baking and taking treats to share with co-workers. She spoiled her family with goodie baskets. Popcorn Balls were a treat. In the summers, she also canned and had a garden. During her life, she enjoyed bowling and entertaining with friends.

     Nancy passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Pearl Valley Care and Rehab in Sutherland, IA at the age of 72 years and 36 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Mabel; a sister, Diane; and her husband Gerald on August 2, 2016.

     Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sheila (Wade) Weaver of Sutherland, IA and their 2 sons, Andrew (Terran) and John; her son, Jason (Kelly) Kruse of Savage, MN and their 3 sons, Evan, Colin and Tate; her daughter, Tricia (Damon) Ellsworth of Wichita, KS and their 2 children, Bailey and Landon; one brother Donald (Margaret) Dau of Sutherland, IA and one sister Susan Martin and her late husband Jim of Omaha, NE; many other family members; and many friends.
