Naoma Lowene Abler, the daughter of Edward and Kittie Lou (Davidson) Trent, was born September 21, 1912 near the town of Roswell in Minor County, SD. Her family later moved to Dickens, IA, where she finished her schooling, graduating from Dickens High School with the class of 1931.
After her graduation, she moved to Royal, IA with her parents and later became a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked for eleven years. It was during this time that she met and married Albert Abler on November 18, 1942 and to this union a son, James was born. Naoma and Albert spent all of their married life in Royal, spending winters in Arizona following their retirement in 1969. Naoma was a longtime member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal and was a member of the Altar Society having held many offices. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Naoma passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; her son, James and 2 sisters: Ondena Frahm and Bernita Nelson;.
She is survived by four nieces: Margie Bolt and her son, Daniel of Okoboji, LaVonne Kuehl of Milford, Shari Sorenson of Arnolds Park and Charlotte Heidecker; 3 nephews: Larry Nelson, Richard Nelson and his wife, Sally all of Arnolds Park and Dennis Nelson and family of Van Meter, IA; and a host of friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal, Iowa.
