Neil Eugene Cullen

April 29, 1970 — July 7, 2021

Spencer

Neil E. Cullen was born April 29, 1970. His parents, Eugene and Mary (Milton) Cullen, along with his big sister, Shawneen, welcomed him to their home in rural Spencer.

Around 1972, the family moved to rural O’Brien County and Neil attended school in Primghar, Iowa where he graduated in 1988. Neil continued his secondary education in Sioux City, Iowa at Morningside College. He graduated with a degree in Mass Communications in 1992. Neil’s move to Sioux City to begin college is where he met some of his ‘forever friends’, one of them on his first day at Morningside.

The career Neil chose, after graduating from Morningside, provided him with many opportunities and experiences. He worked at KTIV and KMEG television stations in Sioux City for several years. He then joined a touring group, that performed at venues across the United States, where he carried out production, video and rigging responsibilities.

Close friends and family will remember Neil as a loyal person who always “had your back”, a quick joke and a laugh. Neil passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 7, 2021.

Neil is survived by his mother, Mary Cullen of Primghar, his sister, Shawneen (Hamish) Mitchell of Azusa, CA, his uncle James L. and aunt Mike Cullen (Spencer), aunt Ardella Hein (Fort Dodge, IA) aunts Jody Milton (Bloomington, MN) and Janet Milton (Chicago, IL) and several cousins and friends.

Neil was proceeded in death by his father, Eugene Cullen, his grandmother and grandfather, Bernadine and Forrest Cushman and his grandfather, James W. Cullen.
