Nelda 'Nel' Lee Paulson

Nelda "Nel" Lee Paulson, the daughter of LeRoy and Verlet (Speckater) Herzberg was born April 16, 1949 in Storm Lake, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Storm Lake area where she attended school. Nel married Martin Paulson on April 12, 1973 in Alta, IA. She worked for Vista Products, until moving to Spencer, IA, where she was a homemaker. She later went to work for Rohlins Construction and Mathey Construction. She worked for The Merrill Co. for 10 years, before becoming employed for Cobble Creek Assisted Living (Beehive). Nel enjoyed shopping, NASCAR, going gambling, and in her younger years, fishing. She enjoyed her 3 dogs, Babe, Dallas, and Mufasa, as well as her stray cat, Boots. Her greatest joy was cooking for family holiday get-togethers. Nel passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Martin, and one sister, Marla Bechtel. Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, Brenda (Charles) Heilstedt of Ruthven, IA, Richy Lee Harrington and his girlfriend Roxy of Spencer, IA, Tracy (Galen) Niemeyer of Sanborn, IA, Bret "BP" Paulson and his girlfriend Jen of Marathon, IA and Heather (Kenny) Christensen of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (Terrell) Moncrief, Jayme, Jake and his girlfriend Emilee, Tony, Tyler and his girlfriend Amanda, Alex, and Shyanne; 4 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Jayda, Aiden, and Carlee; with 2 more on the way; one sister, Ellen (Ronnie) Dierenfield of Alta, IA; other relatives and many friends.
